How We Assess You

We assess and diagnose ADHD using:

  • Clinical interviews

  • Rating scales

  • Behavioural observations

We also evaluate how symptoms affect daily life and identify any co-occurring conditions.

How We Treat ADHD

ADHD is treatable with medication, there is sometimes also a role for other approaches, such as ADHD coaching or psychotherapeutic interventions.

When treating with medication the response and dosage vary by individual, finding the right medication, and dosage often requires a Titration Period.

I decided to go private for an ADHD diagnosis as the NHS waiting times for my area were at nearly 3 years. Dr de Waal was amazing and made the whole assessment process a breeze. It was worth every penny going private and I can fully recommend Dr de Waal to anyone!

Virtual Consultation

£745.00
In-person
60-90 minutes
£1,045.00

Our Fees Include

Assessment

The assessment typically lasts 60 minutes, during which the clinician performs a DIVA interview, they can then provide a diagnosis and discusses treatment options, if needed. If more time is required to confirm a diagnosis or review medication and medical history, the clinician may extend the session.

If an extension isn’t possible, a follow-up appointment will be scheduled to complete the assessment at no extra cost. This ensures the patient receives a thorough evaluation without additional fees.

Written Report

The written report which includes the clinical diagnosis and a proposed treatment plan if applicable, to be provided to you within 5 working days from the date of your assessment.

Ongoing Treatment Costs

The assessment fee covers the assessment and the following report.
If a psychiatrist recommends & the patient decides to try medication, follow-up appointments are necessary to monitor the response to treatment and make adjustments. Frequency and timing of these follow-ups is jointly decided by the patient and clinician at each stage.

There are additional costs for medication which are paid to the dispensing pharmacy, not to Berkeley Psychiatrists.

Follow-up appointments incur a separate fee:

Adults: Brief 15-minute reviews are usually sufficient and cost £150.
Children: Follow-up appointments cost £335.

After the titration is completed, patients are able to obtain a shared care plan, which allows ongoing treatment and some associated costs, to move under the responsibility of the NHS.

GPs usually check the frequency and number of follow-up reviews, prior to accepting our Shared Care Plan.

They can refuse to take over on the NHS.

We are actively working with over 1200 GP practices who have accepted our Shared Care Plans on the NHS.
